KIO Data Centers Strengthens Mexico City’s Digital Infrastructure with the Construction of MEX8, Its New Data Center

Mexico City, March 9, 2026.- At a pivotal moment for Mexico City’s digital transformation, KIO Data Centers announces the construction of MEX8, a new data center designed to support the growth of the digital economy and strengthen the technological capacity installed in the heart of the countrys.

The new facility, representing a $70 million USD investment, will increase installed capacity in the capital by 4 MW and improve proximity and latency for enterprises and technology platforms. During its construction phase, the project will generate 3,000 direct and indirect jobs, while also promoting technical specialization in areas related to engineering, information technology, and the operation of mission-critical infrastructure

It will also enable services linked to e-commerce, fintech, healthcare, education, cybersecurity, logistics chains, and the public sector, industries that today drive a significant share of Mexico City’s economic dynamism and increasingly depend on reliable data and connectivity.

MEX8 will incorporate sustainability criteria, with 79% of the energy used coming from renewable sources, and with a commitment to increase that percentage in the coming years.

In this context, MEX8 represents enabling infrastructure that allows digitalization to advance with resilience and technological sovereignty.

By strengthening mission-critical infrastructure in the capital, the project aims to create an environment where innovation can thrive under high standards of continuous availability and security for both public and private initiatives.

This announcement also aligns with the local administration’s Digital Government agenda, which seeks to simplify administrative processes through digital tools, leverage Llave CDMX and the CDMX App as mechanisms for identity and service access, expand the availability of online services, and strengthen the government’s capacity to operate technological solutions autonomously.
