GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA — September 25, 2025 – KIO Data Centers, a leading digital
infrastructure company with an interconnected ecosystem across Mexico, Panama, Colombia,
Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic, today announced the start of construction of its
second data center in Guatemala. This strategic investment, part of more than $400 million in
CAPEX across the region, will quadruple KIO’s installed capacity in the country, further
strengthening its role in Latin America’s digital transformation.
The new facility will provide businesses in Central America with access to a state-of-the-art,
carrier-neutral infrastructure designed for the demands of cloud computing and AI. It will deliver
the secure and scalable solutions necessary to support clients' innovation and digital
transformation efforts.
“This new data center in Guatemala is a testament to our commitment to the Central American
market and our clients' success," said KIO CEO Octavio Camerena. "By expanding our capacity
and investing in AI-ready infrastructure, we are not only supporting the current needs of our
clients but also preparing the region for the future of technology.”
Facility highlights include:
- MW Capacity - Noted that it is quadrupled installed capacity, but would like for it to be
more clear if the number is available - Exact location - highlighting where this will be shows how it fits into the existing
ecosystem; noted that the GTM 1 is in Technology Park serving tech companies - Anything innovative such as cooling systems or use of renewable energy? Can we
mention PUE targets, or any metrics? This gives us a sustainability angle with media - Completion timeline: general timeframe such as Q4/2H 2026
As a leader in the region, KIO is committed to providing world-class infrastructure that
empowers businesses across Latin America. This expansion is part of KIO’s broader growth
strategy to meet the increasing demand for high-performance, secure, and sustainable data
center solutions.
